Accepting “can’t”

This is a video about something very unlikely. One might think it’s about an average bloke singing greatly, but I would contend that it’s about a man’s dream coming to life probably after years of being told that he can’t. He never accepted “can’t”.
It’ll move your soul.

To be accountable: Rita’s tale

Pics are loaded HERE…but read this first folks.

“First and foremost…my apologies! Why you ask? Well, I missed turning in my blog post for January. Yes, I’ve got tons of solid reasons why it didn’t happen…and I mean really good ones…had pneumonia for 2 weeks (that really was the biggest one), sister was visiting & I had to entertain her with my kids, it was my birthday & anniversary month, kids starting back to school, had traveled most of December and was still unpacking and catching up…blah, blah, blah! Granted January was probably one of my most stressed out months I’ve had in a long time…I felt lost, overwhelmed, overscheduled, and to be honest, I let my responsibility to write the blog post get bumped from my list. Yes…I thought about it. I felt guilty about not doing it yet. I knew I needed to do it…….But the bottom line was that I did not do what I said I was going to do. And only I am ACCOUNTABLE for that, regardless of how great my reasons/excuses may be. (Accountable is defined as “subject to the obligation to report or justify something: responsible; answerable” (Random House, Webster’s College Dictionary). Somewhere in that month I could of and should of taken an hour to get this responsibility done on time.

Here’s the truth guys…we all have situations like these that happen once in a while. It’s not the end of the world. You can still recover and get back on track. Such is life…crap happens, but you have to own up to your crap and recognize that you dropped the ball. YOU DID…no one else but YOU! And it’s OK…you’re not perfect. Once you recognize that fact and OWN it, then you can move forward…figure out why you didn’t do it, what needs to change in your life to make it happen, and possibly even decide if it’s something you really want and need in your life and are you willing to really commit to that goal.

Sound familiar…a lot of people made New Year’s Resolutions to exercise more and eat healthier. Now that it’s February…are you still doing those things to ensure that you reach your goal? Or have you had a slip up along the way…? Just remember…slip ups are ok once in a while. It’s what makes us human and relatable to people. But it’s how you handle those slip ups that build character and trustworthiness. So own it, apologize to whomever you need to (including yourself because you don’t need to feel guilty), and make some changes to put your goal back on the list. Health and fitness is a lifelong journey so expect some bumps in the road. But just know that you can’t hide from it. The quicker you take accountability for what you did not do, the quicker you will be able to get back to moving in the right direction!”
